Glen Ogle-Dochart Forest loop

5 miles approx.

START – Glen Ogle car park on the A85 between Lochearnhead and Killin.

Glen Ogle free car park.
Cross A85.
Narrow path next to white house.
Old railway track.
Ignore left track.
Ignore another left track.
Follow track on the right.
Straight on.
Cross A85 and follow narrow path on the right.
Straight on from there.
Follow Glenoglehead (route 7).
Back to car park.

Very nice loop!

Invertrossachs loop (the other way round)

3 3/4 miles

START – Invertrossachs car park, 3 miles from Callander.

Invertrossachs car park.
Turn left on private road.
Straight on..
Look for track on the left (with barrier).
Turn left and left again.
Going past lochan.
Back to car park.

I think the usual way is better, follow Rob Roy Way from car park and return on private road.

Kilbryde (discovering)

5 miles

START – Informal car park on road to Argaty, between Doune and Dunblane.

Left at car park towards A822.
Follow Kilbryde.
Right for the castle.
Went left.
Parking for 2 cars not far from signposts.
Stayed on minor road.
For another day….
Road goes on…

Minor road with few passing places. The minor road goes on for 2 or 3 miles apparently and then becomes a track. A loop can be done via a gated track that leads back to Argaty according to a fellow walker. Will come back to investigate, probably with my bike.

St Fillans Viewpoint loop

3 miles

START – Four Seasons Hotel in St Fillans. Same start as previous post.

Four Seasons Hotel.
Follow Wester Glentarken.
Ignore first gate on the right (way back).
Go through 2nd gate on the right.
Great viewpoint!
Carry on straight.
Other cool viewpoint not far on the right.
Nice bench!
Look for track on the right.
Back to first gate ignored earlier.
Retrace steps.

No need to climb very far in St Fillans to have gorgeous views!

Kirkton Glen loop

Around 5 miles

START – Balquhidder Church.

Balquhidder Church.
Path on the right of the church.
Going past Scottish Water building.
Left here (right goes to Creag an Tuirc).
Straight on (bridge on the left being repaired)
Straight on (right track is the way back)
Stay on main track. Narrow path left leads to Glen Dochart (signposted).
Bench opposite the path towards Glen Dochart.
Back to the start of the loop. Retrace steps from there.

Very nice loop.

Lime Craig Viewpoint

3 1/2 miles

START – Braeval car park on the A81, near Aberfoyle.

Track with barrier.
Take left.
Left again.
Left again.
Next to Golf Course.
Follow Trossachs.
Not far from The Lodge, follow red-marked track.
Follow Lime Craig trail.
This is where the Highlands begin!
Short steep section.
Junction (turn right).
Track to the mast.
Lovely view.
Back to junction, then straight down.
Left here.
Left again (towards Rob Roy Way).

Great view at the top!
Can be a bit confusing as there are so many tracks and paths.

Jerah Woodland (exploring)

Around 5 miles

START – Metal gate on Sheriffmuir Road, near Dunblane and Bridge of Allan. Parking spaces on the left of the bridge.

After 40 minutes uphill…
Took left path down.
The Lossburn Reservoir in the distance.
Right narrow path here to explore.
Stopped here.

Stunning scenery!
A couple of walkers told me that the track eventually stops, is a dead end. Didn’t go until the end as it is very remote on your own. Not a smooth track, full of stones.
Noticed a couple of narrow paths on the way (on the left) that go apparently to Colsnaur Hill. There were also a couple on the right leading towards the track to Menstrie (I assume).
Will come back to explore further.
