Milton of Buchanan-Balmaha loop (via Conic Hill)

Around 6 miles

START – Creityhall Road in Milton of Buchanan (on the right of the B837 coming from Drymen). Space for a few cars on the road.

Walk minor road, then track, to junction.
Follow Balmaha (Conic Hill).
Stunning section of the path!
Perfect place for a picnic!
Steep going down.

Walk on pavement of the B837 for less than 2 miles.

Wow, this is a spectacular walk! This is the easiest way to do it as Conic Hill is quite a steep climb from Balmaha. It is also shorter than to start from Drymen. Part of the West Highland Way, plenty of walkers on the path today. Gorgeous setting, loved it!

Ben Vorlich (Loch Earn – part 1)

First 2.5 miles

START – Souch Loch Earn Road near Lochearnhead. Parking spaces on rough lay-by on the right before the small bridge (coming from Lochearnhead).

Manageable ascent. Will try to go to the top on a clear day.

Drymen-Balmaha walk

4 miles (one way)

START – Free car park in Drymen (on the B858).

Great car park in Drymen.
Follow road on the right side of The Clachan Inn.
Old Gartmore Road.
Turn left at car park.
Garadhban car park.
Space for a few cars.
Follow signpost to Balmaha (straight on).
Glimpse of Loch Lomond.
Right here (main track).
Junction after barrier.
Took left at junction (Conic Hill is on the right).
Stopped at junction with B837.

Took the easy option at junction, walked down towards the B837 instead of going to Balmaha via Conic Hill. It started to rain, so I cut the walk short and retraced my steps. Will come again, nice track, well signposted.

Statute Labour Road Inversnaid walk (The Great Trossachs Path)

Around 4 miles (one way)

START – Rough lay-by near signpost on the B829 (close to the Stronachlachar/Inversnaid junction). Spaces for a couple of cars.

Towards Garrison Farm.
Inversnaid Visitor Gateway.
Left turn back to road.
Car park on the left (leads to Craigrostan Woods).
Inversnaid Hotel.
Inversnaid car park.
West Highland Way (to do soon).

Aberfoyle-Stronachlachar (cycle)

11. 5 miles (one way)

START – Riverside car park in Aberfoyle.

Riverside (free) car park.
B829 towards Kinlochard.
Going past Loch Ard Forest car park turn.
Kinlochard.
Loch Chon.
Loch Arklet.
RIght turn to Stronachlachar.
The Pier Café.
Loch Katrine.
Sitting outside at The Pier.
Stronachlachar car park.
Great views all around!

The B829 is a fantastic minor road to cycle! The Pier Café is a gem as well!

Kenmore-Acharn circular walk

6.5 miles

START – Taymouth Castle parking area. Go towards South Loch Tay Road.

Walk on South Loch Tay Road for around 30 minutes.
Left towards path.
Hermit’s Cave.
Falls of Acharn.
Rob Roy Way.

Towards minor road to Amulree.
Back to South Loch Tay Road.

Brilliant walk! Very varied, views over Loch Tay are fantastic. Well signposted. Highly recommended!

River Tay Way loop

Around 4 miles

START -The Courtyard (free) car park in Kenmore.

The Courtyard.
Left exiting The Courtyard.
Left again next to river.
Straight on.
Path can be a bit boggy.
Path before minor road. to Aberfeldy.
Cross minor road at Peeler Gate.
Drummond Hill car park.
Path down on the right.
Minor road back to the Courtyard.

Very pleasant loop!

Touch Reservoirs

Around 6 miles

START – Quarry Road car park in Cambusbarron.

Car park at the end of Quarry Road.
Turn left on Main Street.
Take first minor road on the left.
Go straight (not on private road to Brooklands).
Gate to jump.
Waterworks.
Cows about!
Right turn.
First reservoir.
Jump gate.
Second reservoir.
A bit further.
Third reservoir.

Fantastic walk! So many great spots for a picnic.
Next time I’ll park closer (space for 3 cars on either side of the minor road) and will go to the Gilmour’s Linn Waterfall.
Cows on the track were ok. I got reassured by 2 walkers not to worry about them. Glad I didn’t.
