Ben Chonzie

7.8 miles

START – Invergeldie car park, up Glen Lednock.

Uphill for a while…
Then look for path on the left (small cairn).
Follow fence.
Follow fence (go right).
Tricky short section.
Straight towards the top.
The top!
Great view of Loch Turret.
Will have another go walking from Loch Turret to Ben Chonzie. Looked not that difficult from the summit.

Great munro to do. Nice to have had walkers who overtook me and showed me the way!

Srath a Ghlinne Glen (attempt)

1 mile (one way)

START – Glen Artney car park.

Right exiting car park.
Went right there, not signposted.
Too many horses in front of gate!!!

A lot of horses on the track. Managed to go past 5 or 6 but then had an additional 4 guarding the gate. Will try again as the glen looks great. Was told that the track goes for 4 miles, then there is a gate of some sorts, then 2 additional miles before coming to an end.

The Balloch (exploring)

4 miles

START – car park on minor road between Comrie and Crieff. From Comrie, follow Strowan Road and take a right turn after roughly 3 miles (signposted Balloch).

Was looking for a path leading to the Loch of Balloch. May have found one but there were too many fallen trees after a very stormy weekend, so I stayed on this charming minor road. Good road for a bike ride.

Path to Crieff via Knock Mary (walk)

2.5 miles one way

START – Signpost on minor road not far from the Loch of Balloch, near Crieff and Comrie.
To get there from Comrie, follow Strowan Road, ignore right turn to Glascorrie, and take a bit further the next minor road on the right (signposted Balloch). Parking possibilities on the way.

There is another path before the farm.
Stopped there due to heavy rain.

Nice walk. Was planning to go to The Loch of Balloch, but got distracted by the above signpost to Knock Mary. Towards the end of the walk, there is a path before the farm that I missed. Will come back in nicer weather to finish the walk and do a loop.

Torlum Walk (part of)

First couple of miles

START – Off-road parking on minor road between Comrie and Crieff. From Comrie, follow Strowan Road for around 3 miles and then take a right turn signposted Balloch.

Spaces for 4 or 5 cars.
Gate next to parking spaces.
Lovely view!
Towards the Radio Mast.
Right here (left goes to the mast).
Left (way-marked post).
Left again.
Not a very useful signpost!
Narrow path opposite.
Stopped here as I was not sure where the path was going…

LOVELY discovery!
WAS planning to walk from the Loch of Balloch to Crieff but got side-tracked by a couple of walkers who came from the gate next to the road. Went to investigate…
WILL come back a bit more prepared.

Comrie-The Milton-Balmuick Farm loop (walk)

6 miles approx.

START – Golf course car park in Comrie. Look out for footbridge at back of car park. Follow Laggan Wood signpost on the right before the footbridge.

  • Follow circular walk.
  • Right here (Laggan Wood Viewpoint picnic table is on the left).
  • Right again.
  • Path joins with The Milton.
  • Look for narrow path on the opposite side (see note).
  • Straight on (right goes to the West Lodge).
  • Follow blue signpost.
  • Straight on (blue signpost on the right leads to Loch Turret)
  • Balmuick Farm
  • Back to The MIlton.
  • Retrace your steps.

GREAT loop, beautiful scenery!
NOTE – take narrow path about 20 steps on the left of the directly opposite and more obvious path (that leads to a bench and a dead end).

Loch Turret-Comrie (walk)

6 miles

START – Loch Turret (free) car park. Cross the dam wall to find signpost below.

Looking back at Loch Turret.
Braefordie (renovated shooting lodge) in the distance.
Going past little lochs.
First gate.
Second gate.
Ignore left track.
Follow signposts to Comrie.
West Lodge.

EASIER to walk from Loch Turret to Comrie than the other way round (going mostly downhill).
GORGEOUS walk! Two mountain bikers also seemed to have a great time…

Comrie-Loch Turret (walk)

6 miles

START – Golf course car park in Comrie (same start as walk to Comrie Croft).

  • Golf Course car park.
  • Walk into West Lodge
  • Path on the right.
  • Follow blue footpath signposts.
  • Took the left track.
  • First gate.
  • Second gate.
  • Braefordie (renovated shooting lodge) in the distance.
  • Follow path to dam.

FANTASTIC WALK!!!
RETRACE your steps if you haven’t left a car at both ends.
POSSIBILITY to walk to Crieff and take the bus back to Comrie (will try that one day).
